Clubs and Organizations

  • At Greenwood, we believe every child has unique gifts and talents. Our mission is to help students discover, develop, and showcase those strengths through meaningful opportunities such as performances, competitions, and exhibitions. One way we do this is by offering a wide variety of free morning clubs each quarter.

Morning clubs are led by our dedicated teachers, administrators, and parent volunteers and take place during morning arrival from 7:20 – 7:45 AM. These clubs are a fun and engaging way for students to start their day while building skills in areas they love.

  • Club sign-ups open on a designated Sunday at 6:00 PM, and many fill up within minutes. To help families plan ahead, we share the club list one week in advance, so you and your child can review and decide which club is the best fit.

  • All buses arrive to Greenwood by 7:20 AM; however, we highly recommend that students participating in a morning club are dropped off in our parent drop-off line between 7:10 – 7:20 AM to ensure they arrive on time and don’t miss any part of their club experience.

  • Students who join a morning club will still have the opportunity to get breakfast after their club ends at 7:45 AM, and they will eat in the classroom. However, it is highly recommended that club participants eat breakfast at home to maximize their time and energy during club activities.

  • Participating in a morning club is a wonderful way for your child to connect with another staff member at Greenwood. Clubs also serve as mentoring opportunities, helping build strong and supportive relationships beyond the classroom. These connections strengthen students’ confidence, provide a greater sense of belonging, and create positive role models who guide and cheer them on throughout the school year.

  • In order for our morning clubs to be successful, we would love our parents' support in our morning car drop-off area from 7:15 - 7:45 AM. By having parents outside, we are able to push our Greenwood staff members inside to lead a morning club. We will release a parent sign-up each quarter and encourage you to sign up for one day if possible.

  • We want our students to take advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities available at Greenwood while also understanding that participation comes with responsibility, commitment, and accountability. The following expectations help ensure these opportunities remain positive and successful experiences for everyone:

    • Morning Clubs: Students may be removed from a morning club after missing two club practices or opportunities. Students arriving after 7:25 AM will not be permitted to attend the morning club that day. Absences due to illness or other school-approved reasons will not count toward the two-missed-practice limit. Students are expected to know and be prepared to perform their routine before participating in a pep rally or other public performance. Students who are not adequately prepared may be asked to sit out of the performance to ensure the success of the entire team.
    • House Achievement: Students may be removed from an extracurricular opportunity after missing three House Achievement celebrations on Fridays.
    • Green Take-Home Folder/RCA App: Students may be removed from an extracurricular opportunity after receiving six or more X marks in the Green Take-Home Folder/RCA App during one marking period.
    • Competition Teams: Students participating on a competition team must maintain our academic expectations. Students who receive two or more F's on their report card may be removed from the competition team.

These expectations are designed to help students balance extracurricular participation with their commitments to learning, behavior, attendance, and being an active member of the Greenwood Gator community. Administration reserves the right to consider individual circumstances when applying these expectations.

  • Students not participating in a morning club will complete a Morning Choice activity in the classroom. These activities vary by teacher and may include board games, card games, silent speedball, video games, STEAM challenges, coloring, and more. We believe students should enter the classroom excited to connect with friends and engage in fun, low-pressure activities.

These unstructured moments also support the development of social skills, teamwork, and the ability to win and lose with grace. Whether through a club or classroom choice, every student starts their day with joy, connection, and a sense of belonging.
